Richard Morley
Citizen leader dedicated to advancing patient, carer and public engagement in healthcare researchRichard works for Cochrane as the Consumer Engagement Officer. He supports the engagement and involvement of healthcare consumers (patients, carers, and the public) in research, including a growing network of over 2,000 volunteers across the world in 160 countries, Cochrane groups, and a range of partnerships including the new International Network for Patient and Public Involvement in Research, of which he was a founder member. Richard is a member of the MuSE consortium investigating ways to improve stakeholder involvement in guideline development and evidence synthesis.
Richard has extensive experience of public engagement and partnership working in the voluntary, public and higher education sectors. He has worked at the University of York and with the James Lind Alliance, supporting research priority setting in the UK and Canada. He worked on the poetry and illness project "Order, Chaos and Chronic Illness" exploring the way we think and write about chronic ill health. He is a Visiting Fellow to the University of York's Department of Health Sciences.
