The Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario offers a range of knowledge exchange sessions to support Ontario Health Teams participating in the Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO OHT) program. BPSO OHTs participate in initial Best Practice Champions® training that includes front-line staff from each of the participating organizations. After this initial training, BPSO OHTs participate in monthly Knowledge Exchange calls for Year 1 of the BPSO OHT program then move to bi-monthly calls for Year 2 - 4. These calls provide an opportunity for rapid learning, networking, sharing progress and outcomes, addressing challenges and making plans to sustain, spread and scale up implementation as well as an opportunity for coaching support from RNAO BPSO OHT coaches.  Knowledge exchange topics include:

  • Identifying common recommendations as an integrated system of care
  • Establishing an infrastructure to support best practice guideline implementation and sustainability across the BPSO OHT
  • Gap analysis – establishing SMART goals and prioritizing recommendations across the BPSO OHT
  • Evaluation using Nursing Quality Indicators for Reporting and Evaluation (NQuIRE) – work collaboratively across the BPSO OHT to establish common indicators and support data collection
  • Comprehensive updates from BPSO OHTs to their peers for information sharing, feedback and problem-solving
