PhD students active at the Forum

We’re pleased to announce that Cristina Mattison has successfully defended her PhD thesis and will continue to work with the Forum as the Co-lead of Evidence Synthesis. In this role, she will work to prepare evidence briefs, citizen briefs, dialogue summaries, citizen panel summaries, and scientific articles.

We’re equally excited to announce the arrival of three new PhD students at the Forum. Qi Wang (part of the Chevidence working group) joins us from China and will focus her research on the development, adaptation and implementation of health-systems guidance. Ahmad Atef Belal, a former assistant director of the Non-Communicable Diseases Unit in the Egyptian Ministry of Health, will focus his research on the organization of public engagement in health policymaking. Both Qi and Ahmad will be working under the supervision of John Lavis. Derek Manis will be working under the supervision of Michael Wilson to explore how mobile health technologies facilitate access, service coordination, engagement and retention in care for people living with HIV in non-urban communities. His research interests also include aging and community-based care, interprofessional and primary health care, HIV, knowledge synthesis, translation and exchange and economic evaluations of health policies and services.
