Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2016)Christopher is in the Master of Science in Global Health program at McMaster University with a specialization in Global Diseases and Globalization and Development. His interest in global health and health systems stems from his previous experiences abroad when he travelled to Urubamba, Peru with MacServe Global, in partnership with Nexos Voluntarios, to help build a library and kitchen at a local elementary school to improve access to education and proper nutrition. He also travelled to China with the International Scholar Laureate Program to learn about the Chinese healthcare system, which combines both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western medicine.
As an outgoing Queen Elizabeth Scholar, he will be travelling to Australia to intern at the Sax Institute where he hopes to integrate and build upon knowledge from his previous experiences to contribute to health systems strengthening abroad. Chris is excited to work with the McMaster Health Forum to learn more about, and be involved with, knowledge translation and the use of research evidence to inform policy decision-making.
