Kelsey Chalmers

Kelsey Chalmers is a PhD candidate at the Menzies Centre for Health Policy, University of Sydney (Value in Health Care Division) and the Capital Markets Cooperative Research Centre, under the supervision of Profs Adam Elshaug and Sallie-Anne Pearson. Previously, she graduated from the University of Queensland with a degree in Mathematics and Statistics and a University Medal and was a research assistant with the Queensland Brain Institute.

Her research investigates the use of low-value health care delivered within Australia’s public and private hospitals, and is collaborating with multiple industry and clinical partners. In the future, she hopes to investigate reducing overuse of health care, and is passionate about ensuring the sustainability of affordable universal health care. As an incoming Queen Elizabeth Scholar at the McMaster Health Forum, Kelsey is aiming to build her skills on using evidence and understanding the political influences on health policy that can obstruct or advance this goal.
