Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2017)Matthew is an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program. As the editor-in-chief of The Meducator, McMaster’s Undergraduate Health Sciences Journal, and an editor for the McMaster Undergraduate Journal of Law and Politics, Matthew has developed an interest in the universal dissemination and practical application of research, particularly as it pertains to health care management.

His internship will be based jointly at the British Medical Journal in London, England, and the Knowledge Translation Unit at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. During his time at these institutions, he hopes to gain valuable insight into the localization of healthcare policies, and document how provision of care reacts to healthcare innovation. He will be hosting stakeholder dialogues to facilitate transfer of information between allied healthcare professionals, and to gain clear perspectives on PACK user experiences. Moreover, he will evaluate the impact of the PACK Programme on existing health systems arrangements. He will also be ensuring that local PACK guidelines are based in evidence found in global WHO guidelines.
