Bolade Shipeolu

Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2018)

Bolade is an undergraduate in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program, specializing in Global Health. Her work with community organizations serving inner-city populations, and contributions to shaping policy at the university level have allowed her to develop a strong appreciation for advocacy. Overall, she is passionate about effecting systemic changes to improve health services and reduce health inequities especially among vulnerable populations.

As an outgoing Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Bolade will be working with Malaysia's Institute for Health System Research (IHSR) to bring about evidence-informed reform in the health sector and broader healthcare system. She is excited to support IHSR's goal to provide policy makers and health managers with quality scientific evidence to guide decision-making. Through this experience, Bolade hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the knowledge translation process that sees research and context drive policy, and the influence of political actors and politics in shaping the performance of a health system.
