Ananya Nair
Queen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2018)At the time of the QE Scholarship, Ananya was an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at McMaster University. Through her academics and research experiences, she has developed an interest in the intersectionality present between clinical medicine, economics, and public policy in delivering and strengthening health. She is fascinated by the dynamic landscape of health systems and its sweeping capacity for change.
As an outbound Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Ananya worked with the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. She worked with the research mobilization and partnerships team to develop models and mechanisms for the coordination of resources amongst CARPHA’s member states and partner organizations. She also helped develop a monitoring framework of operation for the organization’s multi-sector networks and committees. Through her experience, Ananya hoped to gain an appreciation for the intricate network of people, resources, and structures involved in sustaining a health system which is responsive to the health needs and demands of the Caribbean region.
