Boniface Mutatina

Boniface is currently undertaking his PhD studies at Makerere University in Uganda with support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) International Research Chair in Evidence-Informed Health Policies and Systems. He attended McMaster’s Health Policy PhD program between January 2014 and April 2014. His research interests are focused on evaluating knowledge translation platforms. Through his PhD studies, he is evaluating the Uganda Clearinghouse for Health Policy and Systems Research – a strategy for facilitating easy and quick access to optimally packaged evidence for policy. Professors Nelson Sewankambo and John Lavis are his supervisors.

Boniface is a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) specialist. He holds a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Makerere University and a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania. He is currently working for Integrated Community Based initiatives (ICOBI) as M&E Advisor and he has previously worked with Injury Control Center- Uganda, Child Health Development Centre – Makerere University, and other organizations.

With the help of Queen Elizabeth Scholarship program, Boniface will spend April and May 2016 at McMaster completing his thesis, drafting articles for publication, and delivering a presentation on the Ugandan health system.
