Cameron Taheri

Cameron is an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program. He has developed an interest in the social determinants of health after conducting research on how patient perspectives of their healthcare experiences differ according to gender. His current research interests centre around utilizing multi-stakeholder approaches to addressing barriers surrounding learner engagement and patient education. He is working in partnership with McMaster’s MacPherson Institute and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

As an outgoing Queen Elizabeth Scholar, he will be travelling to Trinidad and Tobago to intern at the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). One of Cameron’s primary responsibilities will be to write a paper on the effectiveness of knowledge transfer to intermediary groups such as the media, civil society organizations, and professional associations. He will specifically be looking at evidence-informed messages related to improving healthy diets. Cameron will also assist with the planning arrangements and content development for a Policy Analysis and Development training workshop. He hopes to take what he learns abroad to strengthen our health system in Canada.
