Jonathan (Nathan) Cura

Queen Elizabeth Scholar in Strengthening Health and Social Systems (2022)

Jonathan (Nathan) is a student in the PhD in Health Policy Program of McMaster University, supervised by Dr Michael Wilson.

He is a nurse in the Philippines, and he holds a Master's degree in Nursing with a concentration in Adult Health Nursing from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc. (Philippines), as well as a PhD in Nursing Education from Holy Angel University (Philippines). His previous position as Associate Director of Nursing Research, Systems Management, and Accreditation at St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City, Philippines, where he was in charge of developing and updating nursing policies, spearheading standardization and management of nursing audit activities, and implementing a comprehensive nursing research program, sparked his current interest in evidence-informed health policy.

As an incoming Queen Elizabeth Scholar, Nathan would like to learn more about how evidence can be effectively translated into policy and management decisions to improve patient care. His research interests are more specifically in leadership dynamics, which are critical in fostering knowledge translation and developing a leadership framework for effective translation of research evidence into policies and management decisions.
