Joycelyne Efua Ewusie

Joycelyne comes from Ghana and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Health Research Methodology, specializing in Biostatistics, at McMaster University under the supervision of Drs. Jemila Hamid and Sharon Straus. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Statistics from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics and Computer Science from the University of Ghana, Legon. Her Ph.D. thesis aims to develop new methods for analyzing data from an interrupted time series design, which is the most common quasi experimental design utilized in implementation science.

Previously, Joycelyne worked with the Institute of Statistical Social and Economic Research in Ghana as a research assistant. Her research interests are focused on knowledge translation and implementation, as well as population and public health, particularly maternal and child health. Joycelyne’s interest in health systems emanated from her involvement in various projects both in Ghana and Canada, which exposed her to the differences in health systems between the two countries. She is passionate about addressing challenges faced by health systems in developing countries, particularly Ghana.

As an incoming Queen Elizabeth Scholar at the McMaster Health Forum, Joycelyne hopes to build her knowledge in health systems strengthening and knowledge translation strategies in an effort to better understanding the complexities of making changes and integrating knowledge at the system level.
