Mahnoor Malik

Mahnoor is an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at McMaster University. She has worked at the McMaster Health Forum’s Impact Lab as a research assistant helping to maintain the COVID-End database, Health Systems Evidence and Social Systems Evidence. She has also worked to produce plain language summaries that help support the work of Ontario Health Teams. In addition, Mahnoor has research experience in Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Childhood Diabetes. She volunteers for a charity that helps support educational rights for underprivileged children in Pakistan.

As an outgoing Global Skills Opportunity (GSO) awardee, Mahnoor will be travelling to South Africa to work at the Africa Centre for Evidence (ACE) at the University of Johannesburg. Mahnoor will be working on a project that aims to compile the different methodologies that can be used for evidence synthesis, and how to apply these methods. Through this experience, Mahnoor hopes to understand the importance of evidence synthesis in informing system level policy changes.

Rana has a Master in Public Health from the American University of Beirut; when she was inducted to the Honorary Society of Public Health, the Delta Omega. She also holds a Bachelor Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics; when she earned Jamal Abdul Nasser Award for Academic Excellence.

Rana is the recipient of Queen Elizabeth Scholarship in Strengthening Health and Social Systems. She aims to maximize her experience at the McMaster Health Forum to enrich her understanding of the factors that influence evidence-informed policy making for a stronger impact on health and social systems.
