Peter Malik

Peter is currently an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program specializing in global health. He has explored his interests in global health by organizing events and fundraisers for Dignitas Youth McMaster, where he has raised funds for Dignitas International and the­ir efforts in eradicating the global burden of HIV/AIDS. Peter has held research appointments at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, the Centre for Minimal Access Surgery, and the Boris Family Centre for Robotic Surgery, where he has studied the efficacy of alternate surgical modalities. His current research interests involve improving health outcomes and access to equitable health care. Peter is also interested in exploring ways in which evidence can be most effectively utilized to inform best practices.

As an outgoing Queen Elizabeth Scholar, he will be travelling to Malawi to intern at Malawi's Knowledge Translation Platform (KTPMalawi), a partnership created by the Malawian Ministry of Health and Dignitas International to translate research into contextualized, evidence-based health policy. By bringing together an integrative team of health care providers, researchers, and policy makers from across the country, Peter looks forward to merging his interests in clinical research and knowledge translation strategies by preparing evidence briefs for Malawian policy, namely in implementing Malawi’s HIV prevention program.
