Rhona Mijumbi

Rhona is a research scientist with the College of Health Sciences, Makerere University in Uganda. In this role, she is involved in health systems research and teaching. She was instrumental in developing and evaluating Uganda’s rapid response service, a service that aims to meet policymakers’ urgent needs for research evidence for policy and decision-making. Rhona also coordinates the knowledge translation activities of the Africa Centre for Systematic Reviews and Knowledge Translation. She is a qualified medical doctor and holds a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery from Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda. She also holds a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology and biostatistics from Makerere University in Uganda, and a master’s degree in international public health from the University of Queensland in Australia. She is currently a health policy doctoral student at Makerere University and her work is on the evaluation of rapid response mechanisms as knowledge translation strategies in low-income countries. She is also currently involved in scaling these mechanisms up in the Sub-Saharan Africa and Middle East and North African regions.
